Dr. Joseph Abboud

Professor Joseph Abboud is a French gynaecologist, obstetrician and breast surgeon with more than 40 years of experience. He has held leadership positions across the Middle East, including as head of gynaecology and obstetrics at Hôtel-Dieu de France University Hospital in Beirut and chairman of the same department at St-Joseph University medical school, where he also served as dean of the midwifery school. He trained numerous gynaecologists and midwives throughout his career.

Professor Abboud specialises in advanced keyhole (laparoscopic) surgery for fibroid removal, hysterectomy, endometriosis treatment, genital prolapse correction and gynaecological cancers. He is a strong advocate of minimally invasive techniques to reduce pain, shorten hospital stays and speed recovery. His clinical interests also include breast surgery and fertility treatment, including IVF.

He is a founding president of the Association of French-Speaking Gynaecologists (established 1999) and remains actively involved in medical education and advancing the field through international symposia. He prioritises informed decision-making with his patients and is known for his patient-centred approach.
