Dr. Mohammed Awad Eltoum Ahmed

Dr. Mohammed Awad Eltoum Ahmed is a Rheumatology Consultant at NMC Healthcare in Abu Dhabi with over 21 years of medical experience, including more than 5 years of specialized training in rheumatology. He completed rigorous rheumatology training at Groote Schuur Hospital, the largest tertiary care facility in Cape Town, South Africa, and holds a Master's degree in Rheumatology from the University of Cape Town (2020) and a Fellowship in Rheumatology from the College of Medicine South Africa (2018–2020).

Dr. Awad specializes in diagnosing and treating complex autoimmune and inflammatory diseases, with particular expertise in systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), vasculitis, rheumatoid arthritis, and other connective tissue diseases. He performs joint procedures including intraarticular injections and joint aspirations, and is skilled at ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests—blood work, heart scans, and imaging such as ultrasound, CT, and MRI. During his Master's research, he organized a biologic clinic to monitor patients on advanced biologic therapies and participated in multidisciplinary case discussions with orthopedic, respiratory, and radiology specialists.

Dr. Awad is committed to teaching and staying current with international advances. He has trained rheumatology fellows in musculoskeletal examination and joint procedures, led case presentations and journal clubs, and served as an external examiner for rheumatology fellowship exams in Sudan.
