Dr. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hussain Al Rahma

Dr Hussain Al Rahma is an Associate Professor and Consultant in Critical Care Medicine at Emirates Hospitals Group, Dubai, with over 30 years of experience in emergency and intensive care. He holds the Facharzt qualification in General Medicine and has trained across the UAE, Pakistan, England, and Germany. Most recently, he served as Chief Medical Officer (2023–2024) and currently heads the Emergency Department at Emirates Hospital Jumeirah.

Dr Al Rahma manages a broad spectrum of critical conditions through a multidisciplinary approach, combining technical expertise with strong interpersonal skills. He has held senior leadership roles including Head of Emergency and Critical Care at Rashid Hospital, Head of ICU at Dubai Hospital, and director of the Emergency and Critical Care Centre at Al Zahra Hospital. He is also Founder President of the Emirates Intensive Care Society and founder of the Emirates Critical Care Conference, an annual event since 2004 recognised globally as a benchmark in critical care education.

Dr Al Rahma is dedicated to advancing critical care practice in the region through education and guideline development. He has contributed to multiple books and guidelines on critical care management, brain death declaration, and arrhythmia interpretation. He serves as director of the Middle East branch of the Basic Assessment and Support in Intensive Care Course, board member of WINFOCUS and WFSICCM, and founding member of the Emirates Resuscitation Council. He is fluent in Arabic, English, Urdu, Persian, and German.
