Dr. Masood Ur Rahman

Dr. Masood ur Rahman is a Consultant Intensivist in the Critical Care Department at Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City in Abu Dhabi. He holds American Board certification in both Pulmonary Disease and Critical Care Medicine, bringing over 24 years of clinical expertise. He trained in Internal Medicine and Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine at Stony Brook University Hospital in the USA, and has held senior leadership positions across the Gulf region, including serving as Chairman of Critical Care Medicine at Tawam Hospital in the UAE for six years.

Dr. Rahman specializes in managing critically ill patients, with particular expertise in acute respiratory distress syndrome (severe lung failure), organ support in the intensive care unit, and guiding families through end-of-life decision-making. He leads the Hospital Organ Donation Committee at SSMC and has introduced new clinical pathways to improve critical care processes. His work spans complex respiratory emergencies, palliative care, and the ethical dimensions of critical illness.
