Dr. Stefan Sanger

Dr. Stefan Sanger is an Associate Staff Physician in the Cardiac Surgery Department at Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi's Heart, Vascular & Thoracic Institute. He brings over 33 years of cardiac surgery experience, having trained at the prestigious German Heart Institute in Berlin and completed additional training in Italy and the United States. Dr. Sanger relocated to the UAE in 2008, where he previously served as a Senior Consultant Cardiac Surgeon at both Sheikh Khalifa Medical City and Al Mafraq Hospital in Abu Dhabi.

Throughout his career, Dr. Sanger has performed more than 5,500 heart surgeries, specializing in procedures including coronary bypass surgery, aortic valve replacement, aortic dissection repair, and congenital heart surgery. He is also experienced in transcatheter mitral valve repair and replacement, offering both traditional surgical and minimally invasive approaches to complex cardiac conditions.

Dr. Sanger is well-suited for patients requiring complex cardiac surgery, particularly those with aortic disease, valve problems, or coronary artery disease. He combines extensive surgical experience with a research-focused approach to patient care and has been recognized for his contributions to cardiac surgery research in the Middle East.
