Dr. Michael McLaughlin

Dr. Michael McLaughlin is Group Chief of Internal Medicine and an intensivist anesthetist at American Hospital Dubai. He trained on the West of Scotland rotation, one of the UK's leading programs, with placements in general, cardiothoracic, and neurological intensive care units. Previously he worked as a consultant in Intensive Care Medicine and Anesthesia at Glasgow Royal Infirmary, where he managed the most complex critical care cases.

Dr. McLaughlin specializes in advanced life support techniques including mechanical ventilation management, placement of central lines and arterial lines, kidney-support therapy, airway procedures (fiberoptic intubation and tracheostomy), and regional pain control for ICU patients. He holds accreditation in chest ultrasound for intensive care (CUSIC, UK-trained). His previous experience spans major burns, complex pancreatitis, complex cancer surgery, and advanced colorectal procedures in high-volume centers.

With formal training in health economics and an ongoing research interest in this field, Dr. McLaughlin brings both clinical expertise and evidence-based thinking to complex critical care management.
