Dr. Romit Ratnakar Salian

Dr. Romit Ratnakar Salian is a vitreo-retina surgeon with over 12 years of specialized clinical and surgical expertise. He trained at Aravind Eye Hospital in Coimbatore, India, completing his DNB in Ophthalmology followed by a long-term fellowship in vitreo-retina. He has worked as a Consultant Vitreo-Retina Surgeon at Aravind Eye Hospital, The Eye Foundation, and a private practice in Pune before joining Burjeel in Abu Dhabi.

Dr. Salian treats the full range of retinal conditions, from age-related macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy to retinal detachments and inflammatory eye diseases. He performs both medical treatments (laser therapy, injections into the eye) and complex surgical repairs, including removal of scar tissue from the retina, macular hole repair, and treatment of retinal tears. He also manages cataracts and glaucoma medically.

He became a Fellow of the International Council of Ophthalmology in 2017 and contributes to academic medicine through teaching and conference presentations. Dr. Salian is fluent in English, Hindi, Malayalam, Tamil, Tulu, and Marathi, making him accessible to patients from many backgrounds.
