Dr. Andrea Ghanem

Dr. Andrea Ghanem is an Associate Staff Physician in the Ophthalmology Department at Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi's Integrated Surgical Institute. She brings 19 years of clinical experience across Europe and the Middle East, with extensive training in refractive surgery, general ophthalmology, and retinal disease management. She earned her MD from Charles University in Prague in 2006 and completed advanced residencies and fellowships at leading eye centers in the Czech Republic, Germany, Spain, and Switzerland under prominent specialists including Prof. Dr. Filipec, Prof. Dr. Kohen, and Prof. Dr. Alió.

Dr. Ghanem's clinical practice focuses on general ophthalmology with particular emphasis on retinal diseases, laser treatments, and minor surgical procedures including intravitreal injections and eyelid surgery. She has worked as a general and pediatric ophthalmologist at Magrabi Eye and Ear Center in Abu Dhabi and held specialist positions at eye clinics in Switzerland and Germany. Her expertise spans retinal vascular occlusions, age-related macular degeneration, genetic eye disorders, and dry eye disease.

She is board-certified in Germany (Facharzt für Augenheilkunde) and holds European fellowship credentials (FEBO). Dr. Ghanem is fluent in five languages—English, German, Spanish, Czech, and Slovak—enabling her to communicate with diverse patient populations. She is actively involved in professional education and regularly presents at international congresses including the European Society of Cataract & Refractive Surgeons and the World Ophthalmology Congress.
