Dr. Umer Mehmood Butt (PART TIME)

Dr. Umer Mehmood Butt is a UK board-certified orthopaedic surgeon with over 20 years of experience, currently practising at Medcare Orthopaedic & Spine Hospital in Dubai. He trained extensively across the UK, completing specialist registrar posts in trauma and orthopaedics at the Avon Orthopaedic Centre and a fellowship in computer-navigated knee and multi-ligament reconstruction at Plymouth University Hospital. He holds fellowships from the Royal College of Surgeons, Edinburgh, and has trained at leading international institutions including the Arthrex Lab in Munich, where he taught surgeons from around the world.

Dr. Butt specialises in sports medicine and joint preservation, performing advanced arthroscopic procedures including meniscal repair and transplant, cartilage transplant, ACL and PCL reconstruction, and shoulder cuff repair. He is experienced in partial and robotic knee replacement, osteotomy (bone realignment), and emerging treatments such as stem cell therapy for knees and shoulders. He has established the first centre for sports surgery in Pakistan and serves as director of an international arthroscopy fellowship programme.

He is a member of major international orthopaedic societies including the British Association for Surgery of the Knee, the European Society of Sports Traumatology, Knee Surgery and Arthroscopy, and chairs the sports committee of the International Orthopaedic Association. Dr. Butt is well suited for patients needing complex knee or shoulder surgery, sports-related injuries, or joint-preserving approaches to avoid or delay major replacement.
