Dr. Mondy Abd El Hamidnouleldin Hammad

Dr. Mondy Hammad is an experienced ENT (ear, nose, and throat) consultant with 34 years of clinical practice. He is a Professor of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at Cairo University and has held leadership roles in establishing cochlear implant programs across three countries. Dr. Mondy founded the cochlear implant program at Cairo University in 1998 and later established the first governmental cochlear implant program in the UAE at Mafraq Hospital in 2008. He has been involved in nearly 1,000 cochlear implant surgeries throughout his career in Germany, Egypt, and the UAE.

Dr. Mondy is recognized for performing the highest number of cochlear implant surgeries by a single surgeon in the UAE. Between January 2021 and June 2023 alone, he performed 126 cochlear implant surgeries on 104 patients, including 22 bilateral (both-ear) procedures — a record for a single surgeon and center in the UAE during that period. Beyond implants, he has extensive expertise in middle ear surgery, having performed thousands of procedures including cholesteatoma removal, eardrum repair (tympanoplasty), bone-conduction surgery (ossiculoplasty), and stapes surgery (stapedectomy). He is frequently consulted by other doctors in the UAE for complex and revision ear cases.

Dr. Mondy recently co-founded the Tarabichi-Mondy Cochlear Implant Center at NMC Royal Hospital Khalifa City in Abu Dhabi, a specialized center for cochlear implants and ear surgery. He is known for pioneering techniques in implant surgery, including a novel method to treat implant infections without removing the implant.
