Dr. Aikaterini Vakali

Dr Vakali is an interventional breast radiologist with extensive training across Europe and the Middle East. She completed her medical degree and radiology training at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece in 2004, followed by specialized training in the UK, Portugal, and Switzerland at the renowned Centre Hospitalier Universitaire Vaudois (CHUV) in Lausanne. She holds a PhD from Aristotle University with research focused on color Doppler ultrasound for detecting solid breast masses.

Dr Vakali has led breast imaging services across multiple institutions. From 2004 to 2013, she headed the breast radiology department at Genesis Hospital and Genesis Clinic in Thessaloniki. Since 2013, she has been part of Mediclinic City Hospital's pioneering dedicated breast imaging unit in Dubai. She is skilled in advanced diagnostic techniques including breast ultrasound, elastography, MRI, and image-guided procedures such as core biopsies (using stereotactic, ultrasound, or MRI guidance), fine-needle aspirations, and lesion localization using hookwire or Magseed markers. She actively participates in multidisciplinary breast cancer tumor board meetings.

Dr Vakali is committed to medical education and research, teaching medical students and supervising research projects through Mohammed Bin Rashid University. She is a founding member of the Hellenic Society for Early Diagnosis and Therapy of Breast Cancer.
