Dr. Daniel Guerron

Dr. Daniel Guerron is a Staff Physician in the General Surgery Department at Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi's Digestive Disease Institute, where he directs the Comprehensive Core Health and Hernia Treatment Center. He trained at leading US institutions: he earned his medical degree from Pontificia Universidad Católica del Ecuador, completed research training in basic and translational science at Children's National Medical Center in Washington DC, finished his general surgery residency at Cleveland Clinic Foundation in Ohio (where he received the 2015 Steiger Award for research contributions), and completed an advanced fellowship in minimally invasive and bariatric surgery at Duke University.

Dr. Guerron specializes in complex hernia repair and abdominal reconstruction, weight-loss surgery (including gastric bypass and sleeve gastrectomy), robotic surgery, and advanced endoscopy. He has published original research articles, outcomes studies, and book chapters on laparoscopy, hernia management, surgical innovation, and bariatric procedures. He is involved in training surgical residents and fellows and brings a patient-centered approach combined with a focus on surgical research and innovation.
