Dr. Shebeen Hamza

Dr. Shebeen Hamza is a Consultant Anaesthetist with extensive training and experience across general anaesthesia, airway management, regional anaesthesia and nerve blocks. He began his anaesthesia training in India in 2001, completing an MD degree in 2004, before moving to the UK to undertake basic training at the West Yorkshire School of Anaesthesia in Bradford and higher specialist training at the West of Scotland School of Anaesthesia in Glasgow, which he completed in 2012. He holds fellowships from the Royal College of Anaesthetists and the Faculty of Intensive Care Medicine (UK), and obtained his Certificate of Completion of Training in the UK.

Following his formal training, Dr. Hamza worked as a substantive consultant in anaesthesia and intensive care at Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Gateshead, Newcastle, where he served as clinical lead for Clinical Governance in Intensive Care. His clinical focus spans putting patients to sleep for surgery, managing difficult airways, administering regional pain-relief techniques (such as nerve blocks and spinal injections), and providing critical care. He has particular expertise in intensive care and regional anaesthesia techniques.

Beyond direct patient care, Dr. Hamza is an educator and clinical leader. He is an international instructor for the Fundamentals of Critical Care Support course run by the Society of Critical Care Medicine, and has led numerous workshops and simulation training on crisis management, airway techniques, regional anaesthesia, sedation and medication safety at national conferences. He has presented audits and research posters at international and national meetings and has been an invited speaker at professional conferences.
