Dr. Shankar Ayyappan Kutty

Dr. Shankar Ayyappan Kutty is a consultant neurosurgeon at NMC Healthcare in Abu Dhabi with extensive experience in both brain and spinal surgery. He trained at Christian Medical College & Hospital in Vellore, India, and completed a clinical fellowship in skull base and vascular neurosurgery at Fujita University in Japan. Before joining NMC, he served as Senior Consultant and Head of Neurosurgery at Malabar Institute of Medical Sciences (MIMS) in Kerala, a 600-bed tertiary care hospital and the first multi-specialty institution in India to achieve NABH accreditation.

Dr. Shankar performs a wide range of complex neurosurgical procedures including intracranial aneurysm clipping, skull base tumor removal, spinal tumor surgery, and craniofacial reconstructions. He works collaboratively with surgical oncologists, plastic surgeons, and maxillofacial surgeons on intricate multidisciplinary cases. He also played a key role in establishing the neurosurgery department at Lakeshore Hospital in Kochi.
