Dr. Mohammad Emad Alilo

Dr. Mohammad Emad Alilo is a highly experienced ophthalmologist with over 25 years of clinical and surgical practice. He trained at Aleppo University in Syria, holds a Masters in Ophthalmology and an MD, and completed specialist certifications from the International Council of Ophthalmology (UK) and hospital-based corneal training through Orbis International in New York. He is now based at Medcare Sharjah as a senior anterior segment surgeon.

Dr. Alilo specializes in refractive surgery—using LASIK, PRK, and SMILE techniques to correct vision problems—as well as refractive lens exchange for presbyopia. He is recognized for corneal transplant surgery, having performed hundreds of cases using both penetrating and lamellar techniques. Beyond refractive work, he manages cataracts, glaucoma, eyelid conditions, dry eye, corneal inflammation, chemical burns, and diabetic retinopathy with retinal laser treatment and injections. He offers modern treatments for keratoconus, including corneal collagen cross-linking and specialized laser correction.

Dr. Alilo is an active member of leading international societies including the American Academy of Ophthalmology, European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, and International Society of Refractive Surgery. He serves as local editor of the British Journal of Ophthalmology and is certified by Toastmasters International as a competent communicator and leader. He volunteers with charities supporting corneal transplant programs and is fluent in Arabic and English.
