Dr. Olena Garmish

Dr Olena Garmish is a Ukrainian-trained rheumatologist with over 23 years of clinical and scientific experience. She earned her medical degree from Dnipropetrovs'ka State Medical Academy in Ukraine, then specialised in rheumatology at a federal institution in Moscow, Russia. She completed a three-year PhD rheumatology programme at the Institute of Cardiology in Ukraine, where she earned her doctoral degree. Before joining King's College Hospital London (Dubai), she was a senior research associate and rheumatologist at Ukraine's National Academy of Medical Science and the Ukrainian Rheumatological Centre, and held leadership roles including Executive Director of the Ukrainian Rheumatology Association and member of the Ministry of Health's rheumatological steering committee.

Dr Garmish specialises in a broad range of inflammatory and autoimmune joint conditions. Her clinical interests span rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, gout and crystal arthropathy, systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), scleroderma, vasculitis, polymyalgia rheumatica, and bone diseases including osteoporosis and osteoarthritis. She has led 54 clinical trials as Principal Investigator since 2002, demonstrating a strong commitment to advancing rheumatology treatment options and research.

Dr Garmish combines clinical expertise with active research and education. She has published multiple times in prestigious international journals and has been an active educator in Ukraine's medical professional development system. Her memberships in the European Scleroderma Trials & Research Group (EUSTAR) and the European Alliance of Associations for Rheumatology (EULAR) reflect her engagement with the wider rheumatology community.
