Dr. Giuseppe Iuppa

Dr. Giuseppe Iuppa is a Staff Physician in the Abdominal Transplant Department at Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi's Digestive Disease Institute. He trained in general surgery at the University of Catania in Italy and completed advanced fellowship training in multiorgan transplant and hepatobiliary surgery through the American Society of Transplant Surgeons. Before joining Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi, he worked as an attending physician at San Marino State Hospital and as associate staff at Cleveland Clinic Foundation in Ohio.

Dr. Iuppa has completed over 500 liver transplant and hepatobiliary operations throughout his career. He specializes in liver transplantation, pancreas surgery and transplantation, and complex liver surgery for tumours. His research interests center on normothermic machine perfusion—a technique to preserve organs outside the body—and he participated in groundbreaking work that led to the first human trial of this technology in the United States.

With 18 years of experience, Dr. Iuppa is well suited for patients requiring liver or pancreas transplantation, complex hepatobiliary procedures, or second opinions on advanced liver disease and cancer. He brings both surgical expertise and research-backed innovation to transplant care.
