Dr. Federica Vagnarelli

Dr. Federica Vagnarelli is a neonatology specialist with over 26 years of clinical experience in pediatrics and newborn care, more than 10 of those in the UAE. She trained at Modena University in Italy, where she completed her medical degree with full honours in 1991, followed by a postdoctoral diploma in neonatology. Her expertise spans critical newborn conditions, neonatal brain imaging, and developmental disorders, with particular depth in cerebral and neurological issues in premature and full-term infants.

Dr. Vagnarelli holds advanced certifications in neonatal resuscitation (NRP), paediatric life support (PALS), basic life support (BLS), and advanced neonatal cranial ultrasound from Imperial College London. She has authored or co-authored numerous peer-reviewed publications on neonatal neurology, including studies on brain imaging in premature infants, perinatal asphyxia, and congenital neurological syndromes. Her recent postgraduate education reflects a commitment to holistic, patient-centred care—she completed a Master's in Applied Narrative Medicine in 2021 and holds specialist certification in autism spectrum disorder.

Dr. Vagnarelli is an active member of the European Society of Narrative Medicine (EUNAMES), serving on its steering committee, and belongs to the Italian Society of Narrative Medicine. She combines deep technical knowledge with an approach emphasizing effective communication and family support, making her well-suited to families managing complex neonatal or developmental conditions.
