Dr. Zafer Husami

Dr. Zafer Husami is a consultant nephrologist at Mediclinic Parkview Hospital with over 25 years of clinical experience across the USA, UAE, and Syria. He completed his medical degree at Damascus University Medical School in 1988 and underwent extensive training in the United States, including a three-year internal medicine residency at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital, Michigan (completed 1994) and a fellowship in nephrology and hypertension at Henry Ford Hospital, Michigan (completed 1996). He holds board certification in internal medicine and nephrology from the American Board and maintains active certification through the Board's maintenance-of-certification program.

Dr. Husami specializes in the full spectrum of kidney disease management, including treatment of end-stage kidney disease using both haemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis, dialysis vascular access problems, chronic kidney disease, and diabetic kidney disease. He has additional training in interventional nephrology (certified in 2002) and manages acute kidney injury in critical-care settings using continuous renal replacement therapy. His practice also covers glomerulonephritis, kidney transplant evaluation and follow-up care, kidney stone prevention and treatment, and hypertension diagnosis and management, including 24-hour ambulatory blood pressure monitoring.

Dr. Husami has held leadership positions including head of nephrology departments at major hospitals and medical director roles at several dialysis units. He is a member of the American Society of Nephrology and maintains an active presence in nephrology conferences and publications.
