Dr. Mumtaz Khan

Dr. Mumtaz Khan is Division Chair of Rheumatology at Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City in Abu Dhabi, where he leads clinical services and the Rheumatology Fellowship programme. He is an Ireland and UK-trained specialist holding a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in Rheumatology and General Medicine, along with fellowships from the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland and Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow. He completed advanced fellowship training in lupus and vasculitis at Central Manchester University Hospital, a European Centre of Excellence for these conditions.

Dr. Khan treats the full spectrum of joint and autoimmune diseases, including rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, gout, connective tissue disease, systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), vasculitis, and osteoporosis. His specialist knowledge in lupus and vasculitis—rare autoimmune conditions affecting blood vessels and connective tissues—distinguishes his practice. He combines clinical care with academic teaching as a Clinical Adjunct Associate Professor at Khalifa University and Gulf Medical University, and previously lectured at University of Limerick and Manchester University Medical School.
