Dr. Valentina Giaccaglia

Dr. Valentina Giaccaglia is a consultant general surgeon with a focused practice in colorectal surgery, proctology, and pelvic floor disorders. She trained at Sapienza University of Rome, where she completed her medical degree, surgical residency, and PhD, and undertook a clinical clerkship at Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard University. She is an Adjunct Associate Professor of Surgery at Mohammed Bin Rashid University of Health Sciences (MBRU), a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, and Administrator of the UAE Chapter of the American College of Surgeons.

Dr. Giaccaglia specialises in minimally invasive techniques for treating haemorrhoids, rectal prolapse, rectal bleeding, pelvic floor dysfunction, chronic anal and pelvic pain, anal fissures, anal fistulas, rectovaginal fistulas, faecal incontinence, anal strictures, and pilonidal sinus disease. She uses advanced approaches including VAAFT, EPSiT, and STARR procedures, which significantly reduce post-operative pain and speed recovery. She also performs diagnostic procedures such as anoscopy, rectoscopy, endoanal ultrasound, and anorectal manometry. She is faculty and trainer for courses across the MENA region and has published research in peer-reviewed international journals including Annals of Surgery.

Dr. Giaccaglia was President and organiser of the Dubai International Colorectal Symposium 2017 and won the Patient Satisfaction Award 2017–2018 at Mediclinic City Hospital.
