Dr. Obaid Majid Kishtwari

Dr. Obaid Majid is a Consultant Ophthalmologist with over 12 years of experience in eye care. He trained initially at Government Medical College in Srinagar, India, focusing on cataracts, glaucoma, and retinal disease. He then completed specialist training in the UK, qualifying as FRCS (Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons) in Ophthalmology from the Royal College of Surgeons Glasgow. Before joining Burjeel, he helped establish glaucoma and cataract services at another major Abu Dhabi hospital.

Dr. Majid specialises in cataract surgery performed through small incisions using topical anesthesia (numbing eye drops), including implantation of advanced lens options such as toric lenses (for astigmatism correction) and trifocal lenses (for near, intermediate, and distance vision). He also performs laser and surgical treatment of glaucoma using the latest minimally invasive techniques (MIGS — micro incision glaucoma surgery), as well as medical and laser management of retinal disorders.

He is registered with the General Medical Council in the UK and is an active member of the Royal College of Surgeons. Dr. Majid regularly contributes to international medical publications and presentations, particularly in glaucoma and cataract surgery.
