Dr. Fatma Alshamsi

Dr. Fatma Alshamsi is a Consultant Gastroenterologist at Burjeel Abu Dhabi with over 10 years of clinical experience. She is an Emirati physician trained in Canada, graduating from the University of Ottawa and continuing her specialist training at McGill University. She was the first Emirati to specialize in inflammatory bowel diseases (Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis) and the first female Emirati physician to complete advanced training in ERCP and endoscopic ultrasound.

Dr. Alshamsi performs a wide range of advanced endoscopic procedures, including complex interventional techniques such as needle aspiration and biopsies, internal drainage, nerve blocks, and procedures for gastrointestinal cancer staging and management. She has expertise in diagnostic and therapeutic cholangioscopy, endoscopic ultrasound (EUS), and specialized techniques such as EUS-guided pressure measurements and fiducial placement for cancer patients.

Her practice focuses on inflammatory bowel diseases, pancreaticobiliary (bile duct and pancreas) conditions, and advanced interventional endoscopy. She is committed to improving patient outcomes and advancing medical education in the region.
