Dr. Heyman Luckraz

Prof Heyman Luckraz is a UK-trained cardiothoracic surgeon with over 30 years of experience in heart, lung and chest wall surgery. He trained at leading British institutions including Papworth Hospital, the Royal Brompton, St George's Hospital and the Royal London, and holds fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons of England.

His cardiac practice covers coronary artery bypass grafting, heart valve surgery (aortic, mitral and tricuspid), surgery on the aorta, atrial fibrillation surgery, and treatment of heart tumours. He also performs TAVI (transcatheter aortic valve implantation) and TMVR (transcatheter mitral valve replacement), manages patients requiring ECMO (heart-lung bypass support) and ventricular assist devices, handles cardiothoracic trauma, and has training in heart and lung transplantation. For chest and lung conditions, he specialises in minimal-access (keyhole) surgery using video-assisted thoracoscopy, covering pneumothorax, empyema and other thoracic procedures.

Prof Luckraz is an evidence-based practitioner who co-authored the 2014 European Guidelines on heart-bypass surgery and led the UK Heart Team Guidelines for TAVI/TMVR. He has published over 100 peer-reviewed papers and run multiple clinical trials. He is a member of the European Association for Cardio-Thoracic Surgery and the Society for Cardiothoracic Surgery (UK & Ireland), and is respected for combining rigorous clinical practice with adoption of new technologies.
