Dr. Barbara Ewa Parrish

Dr. Barbara Parrish is a Consultant Anaesthetist with over 25 years of continuous practice in anaesthesia. She moved to the UAE in 2020 after spending 16 years in the UK National Health Service, primarily at University Hospital Ayr, and additional time in private practice at Ross Hall Hospital in Glasgow. She brings extensive expertise across adult and paediatric anaesthesia for a wide range of surgical specialties.

Dr. Parrish has particular expertise in two areas: managing difficult airways (complex breathing-tube placements) and anaesthesia for weight-loss (bariatric) surgery. She was recognised by the Royal College of Anaesthetists as the Lead Clinician for Difficult Airway Management at her NHS hospital and led the bariatric anaesthesia service there. She has broad experience delivering anaesthesia for bariatric surgery, obstetrics and gynaecology, trauma and orthopaedics, urology, colorectal and upper gastrointestinal surgery, ENT, and maxillofacial procedures.

Beyond clinical care, Dr. Parrish has a strong track record developing and improving surgical care pathways. She has focused particularly on enhanced recovery programmes, including minimally invasive upper GI and orthopaedic surgery. She also has a special interest in regional anaesthesia, particularly epidural pain relief during labour.
