Dr. Kanika Aggarwal

Dr. Kanika Aggarwal is an Associate Staff Physician in the Ophthalmology Department at Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi's Integrated Surgical Institute. She brings 19 years of clinical experience, including nearly a decade at the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) in Chandigarh, India—one of North India's largest tertiary care centers—before relocating to the UAE. She earned her medical degree from Government Medical College and Hospital in Chandigarh and completed her ophthalmology residency and advanced three-year fellowship training in medical retina, vitreoretinal surgery, and uveitis at PGIMER.

Dr. Aggarwal's expertise spans simple and complex retinal surgeries, including scleral buckling and keyhole (pars plana) vitrectomy for retinal detachment, advanced diabetic retinopathy, macular disorders like epiretinal membranes and macular holes, and eye inflammation (uveitis). She is skilled in retinal injections, laser treatment, retinal imaging, and managing uveitis with both topical and systemic medications.

Beyond clinical practice, Dr. Aggarwal is an active researcher and educator, having authored over 75 peer-reviewed publications and book chapters. She participates in international research collaborations, including the Collaborative Ocular Tuberculosis Study Group, and regularly mentors ophthalmology trainees and speaks at conferences. She is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, Vitreoretina Society of India, Emirates Society of Ophthalmology, and Uveitis Society of India.
