Dr. Aliya Ishaq

Dr. Aliya Ishaq is a consultant general surgeon with over 13 years of surgical experience in the UAE. She trained to the highest international standards, holding fellowships from the Royal College of Surgeons and the American College of Surgeons. At Dubai Hospital, she founded and leads the Thyroid Surgery Unit and plays a key role in multidisciplinary cancer care for thyroid, breast and colon cancers.

She performs a wide range of general surgical procedures including thyroid surgery, breast surgery, gastrointestinal surgery, and minimally invasive keyhole techniques. She is particularly experienced in transoral endoscopic thyroid surgery (a minimally invasive approach performed through the mouth). She leads quality improvement initiatives and morbidity and mortality reviews to ensure high standards of care.

Dr. Aliya is an Associate Professor of Surgery at Dubai Medical University and supervises medical students and trainee doctors. She is a Senior Examiner at Dubai Medical College for Girls and a regular speaker at medical conferences across the region.
