Dr. Hemant Vadeyar

Dr Hemant Vadeyar is a Consultant General, Gastrointestinal and Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Surgeon at Mediclinic City Hospital. He brings over 35 years of clinical experience gained in the UK and India, where he has worked in specialist HPB units in Nottingham and Manchester before relocating to the UAE. His expertise spans the full range of liver, pancreatic and biliary conditions, with particular focus on gallstones, pancreatitis, and cancers affecting these organs.

Dr Vadeyar is highly experienced in complex gastrointestinal and liver cancer surgery, using both minimally invasive keyhole and robotic techniques. He is particularly well known for gallbladder surgery — over his career he has performed more than 5,000 gallbladder operations and over 800 liver cancer surgeries. He regularly manages patients with liver cirrhosis, fatty liver disease, jaundice, portal hypertension, and complications after previous surgery. He also has extensive expertise in liver transplantation, having led the establishment of specialist liver units and transplant services in India and managed both deceased-donor and living-donor transplants.

At Mediclinic, Dr Vadeyar is a key member of the Gastrointestinal Services team and the GI Cancer Multidisciplinary Team.
