Dr. Ossama Barakat

Dr. Ossama Barakat is a Consultant Endocrinologist with extensive training in both the UK and the Middle East. He graduated from the Royal Free Hospital School of Medicine in London in 1999 and completed his internal medicine training at Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital, where he obtained his MRCP in 2002. He then undertook specialist training in diabetes and endocrinology at Cambridge Deanery, obtaining his CCST in 2008. Before joining Emirates Hospitals Group in Dubai, Dr. Barakat worked as a Consultant Diabetologist and Endocrinologist at the Imperial College London Diabetes Center in Abu Dhabi and Burjeel Day Surgery Center in Al Reem Island.

Dr. Barakat has broad expertise across diabetes management, thyroid conditions, weight and metabolism problems, and related conditions. He specialises in Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes including insulin pump therapy, obesity management, thyroid disorders including those in pregnancy, osteoporosis, high blood pressure, and high cholesterol in high-risk patients. He also manages patients before and after weight-loss surgery. His approach is grounded in evidence-based medicine, and he is known for explaining complex medical issues in a way patients can understand.
