Dr. Rahat Ali Tauni

Dr Rahat Tauni is a Cambridge-trained Consultant Endocrinologist with 18 years of experience in clinical medicine and endocrinology. He previously worked as a Consultant Endocrinologist in NHS teaching hospitals in the UK, where he delivered patient-centred care across a broad spectrum of endocrine conditions. He is now based at Mediclinic in the Middle East.

Dr Tauni has particular expertise in managing type 1 and type 2 diabetes, with a special focus on the latest diabetes technology including insulin pumps, continuous glucose monitors and artificial pancreas systems. He also provides comprehensive care for thyroid disorders (including lumps, inflammation and autoimmune conditions), bone health, pituitary and adrenal problems, and reproductive endocrine issues including male infertility and PCOS. He manages diabetes in pregnancy, metabolic syndrome, obesity and weight management, and offers preventive care for pre-diabetes and genetic hormone disorders.

Dr Tauni has led several quality improvement initiatives, including developing antenatal diabetes pathways and pioneering virtual endocrinology clinics. As a qualified medical educator since 2015, he teaches and mentors healthcare professionals at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. He has published widely in medical journals and textbooks, and holds fellowships from the Royal College of Physicians (UK), American College of Physicians, American Association of Clinical Endocrinology, and the Higher Education Academy (UK).
