Dr. Abeer Al Khalafawi

Dr. Abeer Al Khalafawi is a Consultant Paediatrician at the Medcare Women & Children Hospital in Dubai. She completed her BSc and MBBS at Kuwait University's Faculty of Medicine, and went on to earn a Diploma of Child Health from London and specialist qualifications including membership of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health (MRCPCH) and Fellowship of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow. She is also certified as an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant. Over 35 years, she has worked across Kuwait, Jordan and the UAE, most notably as Head of Paediatric & Neonatology at Saqr Hospital in Ras Al Khaimah, where she also served as an Assistant Professor at RAK Medical & Health Sciences University.

Dr. Al Khalafawi treats a wide range of common childhood conditions including asthma, allergies, nutritional problems, anaemia, blood disorders, constipation and skin rashes. She has expertise in managing growth problems, infantile colic, reflux disease and acute and chronic paediatric illness. She is particularly skilled in lactation and breastfeeding support. In practice, she performs vaccinations, urinary catheterization, lumbar puncture and intubation, and closely monitors infant and child growth and development. She has experience providing ventilation support for newborns.
