Dr. Zaher Koutoubi

Dr. Zaher Koutoubi is a Staff Physician in the Gastroenterology Department at Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi's Digestive Disease Institute. He has more than three decades of clinical experience, including nine years as a Senior Consultant in Gastroenterology and Hepatology at Tawam Hospital in Al Ain, where he also chaired the Clinical Peer Review Committee. Before that, he led the gastroenterology division at Kingdom Hospital in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, serving as Chief of the Gastroenterology and Hepatology Division and Director of the Outpatient Department from 2001 to 2005.

Dr. Koutoubi specializes in the full range of gastroenterology and hepatology, with particular expertise in liver disease, inflammatory bowel disease (Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis), and managing gastrointestinal bleeding. He performs endoscopy and manages patients with hepatitis B and C, liver cirrhosis, and colorectal polyps, including colorectal cancer screening. He holds American Board Certification in both Gastroenterology (since 2000, recertified 2010) and Internal Medicine.

Beyond clinical practice, Dr. Koutoubi is an active researcher with publications on hepatitis B and C, gastrointestinal bleeding, and inflammatory bowel disease. He has presented his work at international gastroenterology conferences and serves on the editorial boards of the Journal of General Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology & Hepatology Open Access.
