Dr. Sandeep Thakur

Dr. Sandeep Thakur is an ophthalmologist with more than 15 years of clinical experience, specialising in the diagnosis and surgical treatment of vitreoretinal disorders. He trained at Sankara Netharalaya in Chennai, India, where he completed his vitreoretinal fellowship, and holds fellowships from the Royal College of Surgeons in Edinburgh.

He manages a wide range of retinal conditions including diabetic retinopathy (vision problems from diabetes), retinal vascular disease, retinal detachment, vitreous haemorrhage (bleeding inside the eye), intraocular foreign bodies, giant retinal tears, intraocular tumours, dislocated lens, uveitis (eye inflammation), and optic nerve disorders. He is particularly experienced in treating retinopathy of prematurity in newborn babies. His surgical techniques include simple and complex retinal detachment repairs, minimally invasive 23G and 25G vitrectomy (precision eye surgery), intravitreal injections, and retinal laser treatment.
