Dr. Nirmala Murthy

Dr Nirmala Murthy is a Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist at King's College Hospital London (Dubai) with over 18 years of clinical experience. She trained at the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists in the UK, secured a place on the Specialist Register, and completed her CCT (Consultant-level training) through the West of Scotland programme. She holds additional qualifications in family planning and sexual health, as well as colposcopy accreditation from the British Society of Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology.

Dr Murthy's main clinical focus is on women's reproductive health across the lifespan—from early pregnancy care through antenatal, labour, and postnatal care. She has particular expertise in screening and treating pre-cancerous changes of the vulva, vagina, and cervix, gynaecological oncology, and related abdominal surgery (both open and keyhole techniques). She also treats conditions such as PCOS, heavy or irregular periods, and bleeding after menopause, and provides hormone replacement therapy advice.

She has held significant NHS leadership roles, serving as Cancer Unit Lead and Post-Menopausal Bleeding Lead. She was a tutor at the Royal College and is Deputy Lead for Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Southampton Medical School. She chairs multidisciplinary team meetings, trains junior doctors in obstetric emergency skills, and has served as a panel member for the Royal College's specialist recruitment process.
