Dr. Aniruddha Agarwal

Dr. Aniruddha Agarwal is an Associate Staff Physician in the Ophthalmology Department at Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi's Integrated Surgical Institute. He trained in India and the United States, completing his medical degree at Seth G.S. Medical College and King Edward Memorial Hospital in Mumbai, followed by ophthalmology residency at the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) in Chandigarh. He then pursued a clinical and research fellowship in retinal diseases and uveitis at the Stanley M. Truhlsen Eye Institute at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, where he was recognised for research excellence.

Dr. Agarwal specialises in diseases affecting the retina (the light-sensitive tissue at the back of the eye), uveitis (inflammation inside the eye), and ocular tuberculosis. He performs vitreoretinal surgery and has a particular interest in advanced imaging of the retina and choroid (the blood-rich layer beneath the retina). His work spans diabetic eye disease, age-related macular degeneration, retinal detachment, and macular conditions. He has published over 200 peer-reviewed papers and edited the Uveitis Atlas, a major reference text released by Springer in 2020. He leads an international consortium on vitreoretinal surgical management and is part of the global collaborative study on ocular tuberculosis.

With 16 years of experience across India and the United States, Dr. Agarwal combines Western surgical training with deep knowledge of eye disease in diverse patient populations. He is board-eligible with the American Board of Ophthalmology and holds memberships in leading international societies including the American Academy of Ophthalmology, American Society of Retina Specialists, International Uveitis Study Group, and International Ocular Inflammation Society.
