About Dr. Bhanupiriya Mahadevan
Dr. Bhanupiriya Mahadevan is an accomplished speech, language, feeding and swallowing therapist with over 8 years of international clinical experience across India, Malaysia and the United Arab Emirates. She currently practises at Mediclinic Parkview Hospital, Dubai, providing comprehensive inpatient and outpatient services for patients from neonates in the NICU to older adults in rehabilitation care.
She is highly skilled in advanced swallowing assessments, independently conducting and interpreting specialized tests such as flexible endoscopic evaluation of swallowing (FEES) and video-fluoroscopic swallowing studies (VFSS). Her clinical expertise spans early feeding support from 24 hours after birth, complex paediatric feeding disorders, voice disorders, stroke and brain injury rehabilitation, and management of tracheostomy tubes. She is certified in oro-myofunctional therapy (treating tongue thrust, drooling and oral muscle problems) and oral placement therapy using specialized tools like chewy tubes and bite blocks.
Beyond direct patient care, Dr. Mahadevan has established swallowing protocols in hospital settings and set up a speech therapy department in Malaysia.
