Dr. Mehmood Butt

Dr. Mehmood Butt is Head of the Cardiovascular Department at King's College Hospital Dubai and a UK-trained Consultant Interventional Cardiologist with nearly 25 years of experience managing heart disease. He trained in cardiology across Birmingham, South Wales, and Oxford, and holds qualifications from the UK's General Medical Council in both Cardiovascular Medicine and Interventional Cardiology. He has worked at prestigious hospitals including John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford and University Hospital Wales in Cardiff.

Dr. Mehmood specializes in treating complex heart blockages, severely calcified coronary arteries, and patients who are unsuitable for or wish to avoid bypass surgery. He has performed thousands of heart procedures and is recognized as one of the UAE's leading experts in advanced techniques such as Coronary Shockwave Therapy and Orbital Atherectomy for breaking down calcified deposits. He also offers structural interventions including TAVI (valve replacement via catheter) and PFO closure (closing a heart defect).

Beyond clinical practice, Dr. Mehmood is a Professor of Cardiology at Gulf Medical University and a Clinical Professor of Preventive Cardiology at the University of South Wales, where he teaches trainee cardiologists.
