Dr. Carlos Ugas

Dr. Carlos Ugas is an Associate Staff Physician in the Neurosurgery Department at Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi's Neurological Institute. He holds an MD from Venezuela Central University and completed his neurosurgery residency at Hospital Vargas in Caracas in 2013, becoming the youngest person to achieve this milestone. He trained in microsurgery and research at Helsinki University Central Hospital in Finland under the mentorship of a leading neurosurgeon, and previously practiced at several private hospitals in Venezuela, including work in remote and underserved communities.

Dr. Ugas focuses on spine surgery, minimally invasive spine procedures, and neuro-oncology (brain and spinal cord tumors). He has lectured at national medical conferences on topics including spine surgery, brain cancers, and developmental neurological abnormalities. His approach combines advanced surgical training with a commitment to serving diverse patient populations.
