Dr. Filippos Georgopoulos

Dr. Filippos Georgopoulos is a Consultant Gastroenterologist at Al Zahra Hospital in Dubai, where he leads the Special Clinical Gastroenterology and Interventional Endoscopy Services. He holds a medical degree from the University of Crete and completed his gastroenterology fellowship training at Athens General Hospital in 2000, followed by advanced training in therapeutic endoscopy and ERCP (a technique for treating pancreatic and bile duct problems) at Glasgow Royal Infirmary in Scotland. He is a Fellow of the European Board of Gastroenterology and Hepatology and holds full medical licenses in Dubai, the UK, and Greece.

Dr. Georgopoulos has extensive experience treating complex digestive and liver-related conditions using advanced keyhole endoscopy techniques. His expertise spans hepatobiliary and pancreatic disorders, inflammatory bowel disease (Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis), Barrett's oesophagus, and motility problems such as oesophageal achalasia. He regularly performs hundreds of advanced therapeutic procedures annually, including removal of large polyps, placement of feeding tubes and stents, treatment of bleeding varices, and various other interventional techniques.

With 10 years as a Consultant Gastroenterologist and Hepatologist at Nikea General Hospital in Athens—a tertiary referral centre recognised by the Greek Ministry of Health for excellence in inflammatory bowel disease care—Dr. Georgopoulos brings substantial clinical depth.
