Dr. Jan Rather

Dr. Jan Rather is a general and laparoscopic surgeon with over 13 years of experience, having trained and practised extensively at high-volume surgical centres across India before joining NMC Healthcare in Dubai. He holds postdoctoral training in minimal-access (keyhole) surgery and is a fellowship-trained robotic surgeon, bringing expertise in both advanced techniques and traditional open surgery.

Dr. Rather specializes in all types of advanced laparoscopic procedures alongside comprehensive general surgery. He has performed thousands of cases across gastrointestinal, hernia, and other general surgical conditions. His additional qualifications include fellowship in robotic surgery (FALS Robotic) and fellowship with the Indian Association of Gastrointestinal Endo Surgeons (FIAGES), cementing his expertise in minimally invasive techniques.

Beyond clinical practice, he is an active educator and mentor, having served as faculty and consultant at a medical college in India. Dr. Rather has authored two books on laparoscopic surgery, published numerous research papers, and serves as a peer reviewer for international surgical journals including the International Journal of Surgery, International Journal of Emergency Medicine, and BMC Surgery. He is known for his collaborative approach, strong communication skills, and commitment to evidence-based practice and continuous learning.
