Dr. Ihab Ahmed

Dr. Ihab Ahmed is an Associate Staff Physician in the Critical Care Department at Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi's Integrated Hospital Care Institute. He brings 19 years of clinical experience, with specialized training in cardiothoracic surgery and intensive care medicine. He completed his medical degree at Ain Shams University in Egypt and went on to complete a residency in cardiothoracic surgery at the same institution, followed by additional training in critical care settings across Egypt.

Throughout his career, Dr. Ahmed has focused on cardiac and surgical critical care, with a particular emphasis on extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) — a life-support technique that takes over the function of the heart and lungs for patients with severe heart or lung failure. Over the past 5 years alone, he has managed more than 85 ECMO cases. Before joining Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi, he served as a clinical consultant for ECMO therapy at Getinge Company, where he provided education and support to ECMO centers across the Middle East.

Dr. Ahmed is well-suited for patients who require intensive care management following major surgery, those with severe cardiac or respiratory failure, or complex cases that may benefit from advanced life-support techniques like ECMO. He combines his extensive procedural experience with a commitment to evidence-based critical care practice.
