Dr. Sam Suby Simon

Dr. Sam Suby Simon is a Specialist Ophthalmologist at NMC Specialty Hospital, Al Ain, with over 15 years of clinical experience in eye care. He completed his MBBS at Amala Institute of Medical Sciences, Kerala, in 2008, and his Master of Surgery in Ophthalmology from Government Medical College, Kozhikode, in 2014. He trained extensively in advanced cataract techniques through fellowships at M.M. Joshi Eye Institute and Aravind Eye Hospital. Before joining NMC, he held senior leadership roles across hospitals in Kerala, including serving as Medical Director at Simons Eye Hospital.

Dr. Simon's clinical expertise spans the full breadth of eye care: anterior segment diseases (cataracts, glaucoma, dry eye, pterygium), refractive errors, corneal disorders, and retinal conditions. He performs a wide range of surgical techniques including phacoemulsification, small-incision cataract surgery with foldable lens implants, multifocal and toric lens implantations, trabeculectomy for glaucoma, and pterygium removal with tissue grafting. He is also skilled in laser treatments for diabetic retinopathy, glaucoma, and other retinal problems. Throughout his career, he has organised over 100 community eye screening camps.

Dr. Simon is a lifelong member of major professional bodies including the All India Ophthalmological Society and the Indian Medical Association. He is fluent in English, Malayalam, Hindi, Tamil, and conversational Arabic, making him accessible to a diverse patient population.
