Dr. Bassel Safi

Dr. Bassel Safi is an American Board-Certified Consultant Vascular Surgeon at Burjeel Day Surgery Center in Abu Dhabi, with over 42 years of clinical experience. He earned his medical degree from Damascus University in Syria in 1973, then completed his internship and residency in general surgery in Cleveland, Ohio, followed by a fellowship in vascular surgery in Memphis, Tennessee. Throughout his career, he has held senior leadership positions across the Gulf region: Head of Vascular Surgery in Dubai for 9 years, Section Head at King Faisal Specialist Hospital in Riyadh for 4 years, and Chief of Vascular Surgery Division in Al Ain, where he also directed the diabetic foot care program, hemo-dialysis access program, vascular laboratory, and quality and patient safety initiatives in surgery.

Dr. Safi specializes in the full spectrum of vascular and general surgery. His main focus areas include varicose veins, peripheral arterial disease (leg circulation problems), diabetic foot complications, stroke prevention through carotid and arterial intervention, dialysis access creation and management, and vascular ultrasound imaging. He performs both open and minimally invasive arterial procedures and has extensive experience in wound care related to vascular disease.

Dr. Safi is fluent in English and Arabic, making him accessible to diverse patient populations.
