Dr. Shihabudheen Vellarethodi

Shihabudheen Vellarethodi is a qualified medical physicist with over 12 years of experience in therapeutic and diagnostic applications of radiation in medicine. He began his career in 2009 at Amrita Institute of Medical Science and Research Center in India, later moving to International Oncology Services before relocating to the UAE in 2014.

At Al Zahra Hospital in Sharjah, where he worked for seven years, and now at Mediclinic Airport Road Hospital in Abu Dhabi, he is actively involved in radiotherapy treatment planning for patients with various cancers. He is well-versed in complex radiotherapy techniques including intensity modulated radiotherapy (IMRT), volumetric modulated radiotherapy (VMAT), stereotactic radiosurgery, and brachytherapy (internal radiation therapy). His core focus is on patient-specific quality assurance of radiotherapy treatment plans to ensure accuracy and safety.

Beyond clinical work, he has served as faculty for medical physics residency and radiotherapy technology programs, contributing to the training of the next generation of medical professionals.
