Dr. Leanne Bricker

Dr. Leanne Bricker is a consultant in obstetrics and gynaecology with subspecialist training in maternal and fetal medicine. She trained in South Africa before undertaking postgraduate specialist training in the UK, where she became a Fellow of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists. For 10 years, she was Co-Director of the Fetal Medicine Unit at Liverpool Women's Hospital, one of the UK's leading maternity centres. She has been developing fetal medicine services in the UAE for over 10 years and is currently based at Mediclinic Abu Dhabi.

Dr. Bricker is an internationally recognised expert in managing complex and multiple pregnancies. She led the development of the UK's first National Institute of Clinical Excellence (NICE) guidelines for managing multiple pregnancy and co-authored the Royal College's specialist guidelines for monochorionic twin pregnancy. She offers advanced diagnostic ultrasound, fetal echocardiography, genetic testing, and invasive procedures such as amniocentesis and chorionic villus sampling. She is also skilled in advanced fetal therapy, including blood transfusions, fetoscopic laser treatment for twin-to-twin transfusion syndrome (a rare but serious complication in identical twins), and fetal shunts for organ problems.

Dr. Bricker was the first to perform fetoscopic laser treatment for twin-to-twin transfusion syndrome in the UAE and is editor of a Cambridge University Press textbook on managing multiple pregnancies. She brings evidence-based practice to the UAE through her work on the Abu Dhabi Department of Health maternity advisory group.
