Dr. Nishanth Sanalkumar

Dr. Nishanth Sanalkumar is a Consultant Endocrinologist and Head of the Department of Endocrinology at NMC Royal Hospital Sharjah. He completed his medical degree (MBBS) and postgraduate training (MD in Medicine) at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences in New Delhi, then pursued further training in Internal Medicine at New York Medical College and a fellowship in Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism at State University of New York at Buffalo. He holds American Board certifications in both Internal Medicine and Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism, and was elected a Fellow of the American College of Endocrinology (FACE) in 2009.

With over 20 years of international clinical experience, Dr. Nishanth manages the full spectrum of endocrine and metabolic disorders. His expertise encompasses Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes (including diabetes in pregnancy), thyroid conditions (nodules, cancer, ultrasound-guided biopsy), obesity and lipid disorders, pituitary and adrenal diseases, metabolic bone disorders, electrolyte imbalances, and reproductive endocrinology. He has a particular interest in growth and pubertal disorders in young patients. During his training, he received a research grant from the Endocrine Fellows Foundation for work on free fatty acid metabolism and diabetes, and has published original research on vitamin D and iodine deficiency in the UAE.
