Dr. Yassir Abou-Rayyah

Dr. Yassir Abou-Rayyah is a Consultant Ophthalmologist at Mediclinic City Hospital with 25 years of experience in ophthalmology and oculoplastic surgery. He graduated from Cairo University and received the prestigious British Chevening Award, then completed advanced training at Moorfields Eye Hospital in London. He led the Paediatric Oculoplastic & Orbital Surgery Unit at both Moorfields Eye Hospital and Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children for 20 years.

Dr. Abou-Rayyah has performed over 15,500 ophthalmic and oculoplastic procedures throughout his career. His clinical expertise spans oculoplastics, eyelid surgery, lacrimal and orbital surgery, ocular trauma, and cosmetic eye surgery. He is recognized internationally for his specialized work in pediatric oculoplastics and the treatment of congenital eye anomalies, including rare conditions like microphthalmia (underdeveloped eyes).

Beyond clinical practice, Dr. Abou-Rayyah is actively involved in medical research and education. He has supervised seven postgraduate research degrees and published more than 50 papers in national and international medical journals. He is a frequent guest speaker at medical conferences.
