Dr. Luis Campos

Dr. Luis Campos is a Staff Physician in the Abdominal Transplant Department at Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi's Digestive Disease Institute. He brings 30 years of experience in transplant surgery, having trained at the University of Pennsylvania and served as Associate Professor of Surgery and Director of Kidney Transplantation at Methodist Hospital, University of Tennessee in Memphis.

Dr. Campos specializes in liver, pancreas, and kidney transplantation, as well as hepatobiliary surgery (non-transplant procedures on the liver, bile ducts, and pancreas). He has performed over 1,500 kidney transplants, more than 1,000 liver transplants, and over 150 pancreas transplants, including performing the first pancreas transplant in the UAE. His clinical expertise spans the full range of organ transplantation and complex abdominal surgical procedures.

His research interests focus on immune tolerance to prevent transplant rejection, pancreatic islet cell transplantation, and liver-induced tolerance. Dr. Campos is recognized for advancing the field through both clinical excellence and investigative work, and is an ideal choice for patients requiring complex organ transplantation or specialized hepatobiliary surgery.
