Dr. Sheena Geetha Soman

Dr Sheena Geetha Soman is a Consultant Psychiatrist with 15 years of clinical experience, currently practising at NMC Healthcare Dubai. She trained at Government Medical College Trivandrum in India, completing her MBBS in 2005, followed by a postgraduate diploma in Psychological Medicine in 2010 and her DNB in Psychiatry in 2014. Over her career, she has developed particular expertise in addiction medicine, psychopharmacological management, and community-based mental health interventions.

Dr Soman treats a wide range of mental health conditions including depression, anxiety, addiction disorders, personality disorders, and neuropsychiatric complications of movement disorders such as Parkinson's disease. She uses evidence-based psychotherapy, medication management, and stress-reduction techniques tailored to individual needs. She has established and led deaddiction treatment centres, conducted research on impulse control disorders, and developed community-based treatment programs, including camps in disaster-affected areas. Her work combines direct patient care with research and training — she has served as an undergraduate and postgraduate training faculty member for 11 years.

Dr Soman is known for her patient-centred approach and cultural sensitivity, particularly her commitment to LGBTQ-affirming care. She is actively involved in reducing mental health stigma through awareness campaigns, educational workshops, podcasts, and media appearances. She works with adolescents, adults, and special populations, and brings particular focus to women's mental health and positive psychology. Her goal is to advance mental health services through specialized treatment programs and community engagement.
