Dr. Anwar Alhammadi

Dr. Anwar Alhammadi is a Consultant Psychiatrist in the Department of Psychiatry at Medcare Camali Clinic in Jumeirah, Dubai. He trained in medicine and psychiatry at the University of Damascus, where he earned his MBBS and MD in Psychiatry, and holds membership of the Royal College of Psychiatrists (MRCPsych) in the UK as well as Arab Board specialization. With over 24 years of experience in the Gulf region, he has developed deep expertise in the mental health needs of diverse populations.

Dr. Alhammadi diagnoses and treats a wide range of mental health conditions across all ages. In children and young people, he manages developmental and behavioural disorders including autism and ADHD. In adults, he has extensive experience with anxiety disorders (generalized anxiety, panic disorder, phobias), depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, personality disorders, and addiction. He also treats adjustment disorders, grief, suicidal thoughts, post-natal depression, post-partum psychosis, and behavioural symptoms in dementia. His approach focuses on symptom management and improving overall well-being and quality of life.

Dr. Alhammadi is particularly committed to serving Arabic-speaking patients and has published several books in Arabic on psychiatric diagnosis and classification, including translations of the DSM-5 and ICD-11 guides. He is a reviewer for the National Center for Mental Health Promotion in Saudi Arabia. He speaks both Arabic and English, and beyond clinical work has a strong interest in philosophy and its relationship to human development.
